Kaitlyn Hutchens, Associate IIDA

Interior Designer

Kaitlyn graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in interior design and a minor in general business. Her observant eye and passion for detail have aided in her success as an interior designer. Kaitlyn has been exposed to a variety of design, project management, and relocation management knowledge. She also enjoys collaborating with other professionals and clients and gaining more experience in the industry.

Kaitlyn’s technical knowledge, computer program literacy, graphic communication skills, and hand sketching abilities contribute heavily to project development.

Her responsibilities as a designer include programming, space planning, design development, field verifications, construction documentation, reviewing drawings, and conducting punch-lists. Kaitlyn also specifies finishes, artwork, and furniture for each unique project scope. Kaitlyn compiles furniture and equipment inventories, coordinates FF&E insulations, and has experience creating Ghantt chart schedules.

Kaitlyn's understanding of design and three-dimensional space adds to her relocation management skills and gives her the ability to determine placement of existing FF&E during the move planning process. Kaitlyn coordinates with an assortment of vendors during the relocation process, including: movers, equipment and furniture installers, building security and engineering, general contractors, etc. She understands each moving piece is an integral part of the overall process, and the success of this coordination will lead to a smooth transition into a new space.

Kaitlyn’s project experience ranges from finish refreshes, department expansions and relocations, administrative offices, research, clinical and lab spaces. She also shows a specific interest in lighting design, and how varying light sources can both affect and support daily functions.

Kaitlyn is currently pursuing both her EDAC and NCIDQ certifications.

Project types include institutional and healthcare.
